The diverse applications of our simulation software become best apparent in 3-D animations. The latter show you virtual driving tests with passenger cars, race cars, commercial vehicles and vehicle-trailer combinations. The scenarios range from standard maneuvers to driving tests with vehicle dynamics control systems.
Traffic environment
Our virtual traffic environment considers fellow cars and obstacles as well as information from environment sensors, such as radar, lidar and video. Thus, it is possible to develop and test networking active and passive safety systems, like distance controllers, lane keeping assictance and parking assistance, which rely on information about the vehicle surrounding.

Development of control systems for passenger cars
Modelling the vehicle in Matlab/Simulink yields a universal working environment for all development stages of electronic control units. An example for an application of our customers is the design, the implementation and the test of an active roll control system.

Handling and stability investigations for passenger cars
Probably the most common application of our vehicle dynamics software is the implementation of standard driving test to examine vehicle handling and stability. An example is the fishhook maneuver of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which investigates the tendency of vehicles to turn over.

Axle kinematics analysis
Our simulation software allows detailed analyses of the axle elasto-kinematics on the virtual suspension test rig. By modeling the most common suspension types as multi-body systems (MBS), the motion of the single control arms can be resolved and visualised. In addition, rubber bearings and bushings are taken into account which even allows for investigations of the driving comfort.

Racing applications
The generic vehicle model is also suited for the simulation of race cars. The modelling of the axles considers particularities of Formula 1 suspensions, such as centre springs and push rods. Due to low computational times, up to ten times faster than real-time, it is also feasible to carry out extensive simulation tasks, such as comparisons of setup variants and lap time optimisation.

Stability investigations for commercial vehicles
Our truck extensions enable concept studies for the layout of commercial vehicles. Especially, stability investigations can be performed in the laboratory at a very early stage of vehicle and controller development without risk for vehicle and driver

Development of stabilisation systems for vehicle-trailer combinations
Current developments in the context of vehicle-trailer combinations are vehicle dynamics control systems for the stabilisation of the trailer. The platform independent implementation in Matlab/Simulink allows using one single vehicle model for all stages of the controller development – from the conceptual design up to the ECU test in real-time environments.

Simulation of special purpose vehicles
Another vehicle dynamics application is the simulation of special purpose vehicles with untypical configurations, such as huge overall mass, several steerable axles and specific suspension types. Further applications are concept and stability studies as well as the development of specific components, such as active damping systems.
