ECU development at MAN Nutzfahrzeuge: Real-time 12 cylinder engine simulation
For ECU development at MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG, a high performance HIL system for the simulation of diesel engines with up to 12 cylinders has been established. The high technical demands of precision real-time engine simulation were met by the thermo-dynamical engine model enDYNA Themos and were performed on a MicroNova HiL test rig.
The engine behavior has been simulated so close to reality that tests previously conducted on expensive engine test rigs can now be carried out on the HIL simulator. As a result, MAN could reduce its ECU testing costs while saving time and benefiting from testing condition repeatability. Furthermore, the tests can start in the early development phases before the real engine is even available.
