MBS model simulation environment continuous development process

Knorr Bremse's department "Development ABS Systems" operates simulation environments and HiL test stands for the development and testing of electronic control units. To enlarge the field of application, the existing Simpack MBS vehicle model has been integrated into the DYNA4 simulation framework. Thus Knorr-Bremse is able to use the MBS model throughout the entire development process of electronic control units – from model-based function development to automatic test drives on a PC or HIL system.

The model integration into DYNA4 provides a range of advantages:

  • Consistent model and maneuver data for different hardware platforms, from PC to HiL
  • Maneuvers in real test drives are reproduced in a virtual environment for the analysis of ECU algorithms
  • Low-cost testing due to standardized interfaces and user interfaces
  • Unproblematic combination of models and sub-models from different departments
